Who this is for

Purely internal labs. You produce for R&D, ad hoc one-off requests from other departments, recurring internal runs, and in some cases full products that are sold elsewhere. No quoting, no shipping, but you still need traceability, cost allocation, and a way to keep different types of work moving in parallel.

What breaks, and why

Most internal teams didn’t set out with proper tooling. They adapted what was around, shared folders, Jira, Microsoft suit, printed job sheets etc.. It works until it doesn’t. Six patterns keep repeating:

  • Job intake is free-text. Engineers submit whatever they type into an email of part submission form. The lab spends a day chasing clarifications before anything is made.
  • Versioning is informal. Nobody is sure which CAD file was the one that actually worked as engineers keep versioning in their CAD software while communicating it via email/internal channels.
  • Cost allocation is manual. Every job is entered into Excel individually and to estimate costs, one has to use several pieces of software that do not integrate with each other.
  • Comms are one-directional. Requestors have no visibility once a job is submitted. Problems get caught after the part is made and internal clients keep on asking about progress status.
  • Tribal knowledge stays tribal. The right orientation, the right material, the failed attempt from six months ago lives in one person’s memory rather than the process.
  • Traceability is reconstructed after the fact. Fine, until an auditor or a failure investigation shows up.

The internal portal replaces free-text submission with a guided form built for additive and hybrid manufacturing: intended use, material, technology, quantity, timeline, project / cost center. 3. Part intelligence. Phasio recognises when a new job resembles one you’ve made before and surfaces the history: settings, orientation, issues. For reorders, engineers can go through their history or send a photograph of a physical part and you match it to parts in your catalogue.

4. Full traceability. Every action logged: which build, which material batch, which operator, when. Ready for ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 audits without reconstructing anything from email or keeping an archive of print outs.

5. Cost attribution and ERP. Jobs are tagged to departments, projects, or cost codes. Native integrations with Sage 100, Comatic, WeClapp, QuickBooks, Xero and Odoo; open API and webhooks for SAP and anything custom. For mixed teams, commercial jobs carry their own margin, shipping, and accounting flow alongside.

6. Shared factory-floor view. Small teams see a prioritised queue and stop dropping jobs. Larger teams get visibility into who is working on what, without constant check-ins. Requestors are notified automatically when parts are ready.

The point

The machine is the asset. The workflow decides whether that asset pays off. A six-figure MJF/SLS printer waiting on job clarifications isn’t returning what it should. Phasio doesn’t replace your team’s skill, it removes the friction that stops that skill from being applied consistently.
